“The BMW Williams Formula 1 (F1) team has dramatically improved
its high-resolution aerodynamic modelling of team cars by
introducing an HP Linux supercomputer cluster.

“The company, which currently lies second in this year’s F1
Constructors’ Championship, has added ‘several hundred’ HP ProLiant
Intel-based servers to its Oxfordshire headquarters.

“Apart from driver skill, competitive advantage can be achieved
through tyres, engine power, chassis and aerodynamics, with the
latter the most difficult to control…”
