hundreds of the world’s smartest developers are able to examine and
improve the code and adapt it,’ IBM’s Turek said.

Microsoft is one of the official supporters of Grid
development.

Microsoft’s inclusion in an open-source project that primarily
makes use of the Linux platform might seem a bit odd. But Robert
Wahbe, general manager of Web services at Microsoft, said in a
statement that the company sees the Grid, like it does many
open-source projects, as an “ecosystem” where Microsoft technology
can also flourish.”
