The LineageOS project continues the legacy of the famous CyanogenMod project, which was probably the most popular open-source mobile operating system based on Google’s Android mobile platform. Now LineageOS takes the baton from CyanogenMod and aims to become as popular as its predecessor by offering support for devices that haven’t received a CyanogenMod port. After releasing a Raspberry Pi 3 port earlier this year, based on Android 8.1 Oreo, LineageOS is now officially available on the first-generation Google Pixel (codename sailfish) and Google Pixel XL (codename marlin ) smartphones. The latest version, LineageOS 15.1 can now be installed on any of these devices no matter what Android version they’re running.
