“Several pieces of the Linux enterprise jigsaw fell into

including IBM and Dell. However, Compaq argued that Linux will not
be widely used as a core enterprise platform.”

“LinuxWorld Expo in New York saw a 64-processor Numa-Q server
from IBM able to run Linux applications on its Dynix operating
system, a deal for Dell to bundle Oracle 9i software on Linux
servers, the release of Borland’s Kylix toolkit to port Windows
applications to Linux, and the launch of an update to the open
source MySQL database.”
