“Those of you who’ve seen either of my oft-neglected
Amiganation.com or AmigaMozilla Home sites may already know I’m a
big fan of the Mozilla effort. Sure, I’m a big Mozilla fan, and
an even bigger Netscape fan. But being a fan of Netscape and
Mozilla has nothing to do with what I’m talking about here: the new
Amiga platform needs Mozilla.“
“Bah!” some scoff, throwing “Netscape NO!” buttons up on Amiga
Web sites. “We don’t need Netscape!” Oh but that’s where they’re
wrong, in my NOT-so-humble opinion, and speaking for myself I will
not consider Amiga a serious platform until I can use Netscape on
it. Sorry, but in the end if the world’s major applications aren’t
available on a platform, no one takes it seriously.”
“And now that Netscape is under the protection of AOL, some cry
foul all the louder. Yes, I used to despise AOL, too, but they’ve
respected the Mozilla open-source effort for over a year now and I
think shown their quality in so doing (oh, and I heard that they
started as a service for the Commodore 64!). Indeed, I honestly
think they’re the only company with the clout to take back Web
standards from Microsoft and Internet Explorer.”
