Antix M8.2, A review, install guide and comparison to Linux Mint

[ Thanks to Relst

“Then the network manager. Antix uses wicd. I was used
to nm-applet. Wicd has problems with WDS networks (A wireless
network on which multiple access point use the same ssid to create
one big network. Used in my company). Wicd shows them all seperate,
and networkmanager just shows one.

“Also, Wicd does not support 3g. I had to copy my wvdial.conf
and write an /etc/init.d/ boot script so that it would connect at
boot. And a crontab reconnect every 4 hours because T-Mobile kickes
me out every 4 hours. Again not a problem, but maybe some users
find it confusing. The apps in Antix are good balanced. No big
openoffice, but gnumeric and abiword. No evolution but Claws mail.
Firefox replaced by Iceweasel because of debian. I upgraded it to
3.5 right away, because 3.0.11 was a bit old.”
