APCMag: PostgresSQL

“PostgresSQL is a free open source database system that can
run on Linux. It has most of the features available in commercial
databases, such as transactions, triggers, and locking, as well as
a few of its own, such as user-defined types and multi-version
concurrency control…”

“Under Linux, PostgresSQL clients can be written in a number of
languages, including C, C++, Perl, Tcl, Python, Emacs Lisp, PHP3,
and Java (using JDBC). There is also a command-line SQL client
(psql) and a graphical SQL client (pgaccess). The Applixware for
Linux Office Suite’s Data module also supports PostgresSQL. The
screenshots above show pgaccess in action with a sample ‘school’
database.”
