Brightness Settings Completely Broken in Ubuntu 13.10

The brightness settings for Ubuntu 13.10 (Saucy Salamander) have been broken since launch, and it seems that this problem has yet to be solved. If you own a laptop and you have Ubuntu 13.10 (Saucy Salamander) installed on it, you might have noticed a few problems with the brightness settings. The biggest issue of all is that it doesn’t work. The slider is just for show and it does absolutely nothing for the user.
