BW: Linuxcare and Hitachi Seal Agreement Extending Technical Support Services in Japan

“Linuxcare, Inc., a leader in providing comprehensive services
for Linux and open-source software, today announced its agreement
with Hitachi, Ltd., one of the world’s leading global electronic
companies, to jointly provide in-depth technical support in the
development of Hitachi’s Linux solutions. Leveraging Linuxcare’s
deep Linux expertise, Hitachi will now offer integrated Linux
solutions for hardware, software, and support to the e-business
community.”

“Hitachi recognizes the mainstream acceptance of Linux as a
comprehensive operating system, providing installation and
technical support for Linux on Hitachi’s PC servers since April
1999. Under the terms of this agreement, Linuxcare will work with
Hitachi to add new Linux service offerings for Hitachi customers,
such as optimizing the Hitachi HA8000 Series Linux platform.

Hitachi’s HA8000 is designed to provide companies an efficient and
economical e-business solution using Linux.”

“This agreement with Hitachi is a major step in bringing
Linux-based solutions to the Japanese market,” says Jay Powell,
managing director of Japanese operations, Linuxcare Inc. “We’re
delighted to offer Linuxcare’s comprehensive Linux expertise to
Hitachi.”
