BW: Persistence Software to Port PowerTier E-Commerce Infrastructure Platform to Linux

“Persistence Software…announced that it is porting
PowerTier(TM) for Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) to the Linux operating
system. Linux, coupled with Intel-based hardware, is an inexpensive
and easily accessible hosting environment for ISPs. Combining
PowerTier’s patented robust technology with Linux offers a powerful
solution for e-commerce sites.”

“Standish Group research has found that ISPs are the main users
of the Linux operating system on Intel platforms, which provides a
cheap alternative to other more expensive UNIX choices and an easy
platform from which to migrate,” says Karen Boucher, executive vice
president of The Standish Group. “Insuring scalability and
performance technology, such as PowerTier, is readily available is
essential to insure the platform’s continued viability.”

PowerTier is the most scalable, productive EJB-based
application server available today because of its key patented
technology of object/relational mapping and software object
caching.
PowerTier’s proven scalability and reliability as a
standards-based platform upon which to build mission-critical
e-commerce applications helps extend both the robustness and value
of Linux.”
