some to learn that Sun Microsystems…will now distribute a Linux
operating system to customers upon request.”

company’s intense competition against the powerful Microsoft …and
its Windows operating system….”
“It’s debatable if Sun is caving in or reacting to what’s going
on in the marketplace,” says Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette
analyst Kevin McCarthy. “But if Sun wants to preach open
environment, they can’t go out and squash other competitive
environments. It would be the height of hypocrisy to discriminate
against Linux.“
