CRN: LinuxMall.com’s Bolzern Combines E-Commerce and Community

“The more companies that come to view Linux as a commercial
gold mine, the more eager Mark Bolzern is to provide them with
shovels.
Bolzern, the founder and president of LinuxMall.com,
somewhat sheepishly admits to being one of the “ringleaders of the
people who began bringing Linux to the public”…”

“LinuxMall.com is, according to Bolzern, “a destination site for
news and information; an e-commerce reseller of all things Linux; a
wholesaler of Linux products to dealers; an advocate of Linux which
supports many Linux related non-profit organizations; and we have a
brick and mortar delivery/fulfillment capability. What anyone adds
to Linux is value-added services and products. We have some
products that are quite high margin and others that are not.”

“Although Linux is becoming increasingly mainstream, much of the
innovation that keeps it evolving comes from code writers who
contribute their efforts to the greater good. This lack of
compensation for work–and the occasionally eccentric characters
who performed it–initially raised questions about whether Linux
was ready for prime time. Now, said Bolzern, it’s more accurate to
ask whether enterprises are ready for Linux.”
