“SALES of Linux shipments are set to outpace those of all other
operating systems including Windows 2000 and Unix over the next
three years, according to industry analyst International Data
Corp.”
“IDC expects Linux commercial shipments will increase at a
compound annual growth rate of 25 per cent from 1999 through 2003.
This compares to predicted growth of 10 per cent for all other
client operating environments combined and 12 per cent for all
other server operating environments combined.”
“The report was backed by the president of one of the world’s
biggest only Linux PC box makers, California’s VA Research. The
company has recorded sales growth of 300 per cent since November,
and expects this to grow a further 1000 per cent by the end of this
year.”
