Analysts said yesterday the deal with North Carolina-based Red
Hat Software Inc. will improve the legitimacy of an operating
system called Linux without hurting Intel’s long-standing
partnership with Microsoft.
Currently, Linux has 2% to 3% of the operating system market,
said Chris Le Tocq, senior analyst with San Jose, Calif.-based
Dataquest.
