InfoWorld: CA filling out product strategies

“Bracing for its annual CA World conference in New Orleans next
week, Computer Associates (CA) this week and at the show itself
plans to detail a multitude of developments related to topics such
as Linux and the acquisition of Platinum technology…”

“The company this week plans to detail an alliance with Linux
distributor Caldera Systems that is similar to a bundling
arrangement made with Caldera rival Red Hat Software in March.
…Under the arrangement with Caldera, CA and Caldera will
distribute copies of the CA Unicenter TNG network management
framework with Caldera’s OpenLinux distribution.”

“CA’s endorsement of Caldera will foster the acceptance of Linux
and enable the OS to better compete with Windows NT… ‘I think the
best thing about (the arrangement) is it’s getting Linux the
legitimacy it needs to move into the enterprise,’ said the source,
who requested anonymity.”
