InfoWorld Forums: An interesting hardware story

“This happened to a friend of mine. He is running Linux with
RAID-1 and 2 disk drives and 256 Megs of RAM in (ahem) a room with
inadequate air-conditioning.”

“Linux has reached the point where it is fault-tolerant
enough that it can (at least in some circumstances) actually
survive the loss of the drives on which it has its root
file-system
and come back totally up without a reboot!

“And that, folks, is how you get reliability.
