ITD: Can you tell us how important you believe Linux is
to the future of computing
WB:
Linux is something different altogether. It is far
more than just another operating system. … It has a huge
community of people with a burning passion for it to succeed and
that is driving it increasingly towards becoming the application
environment standard. …”

TD: How far off is this open application environment
nirvana?
WB:
… I think that Linux is currently comparable to the
way the Internet was in 1994…”

ITD: So when will Linux enter the AIX space?
WB:
I don’t expect that to happen for a few years yet, but
it is certainly on the horizon. …”
