Linux Knowledge Base Weekly News #8 (2.17.00)

[ Thanks to chardros for this report:
]

The week following our Alpha go-live launch has been
interesting. We’ve gotten a good bit of feedback so far, and we’ve
all been working to resolve problems discovered by people using and
testing it. Here’s the highlights of the week:

– Brought KB Site Live
Aaron fixed
numerous *big* bugs:
– Recompiled Apache to fix MySQL insert bug
– Fixed access list which denied Konqueror the KDE browser
– Disabled anti-data mining module which was preventing users from
accessing the site.
– Fixed Search.pm bug with broken search result pages > 1
– and more…
– We’ve all added a little content to the DB
– Updated some images with some of Marcelo’s new work
Daniel implimented
Bugzilla for bug
tracking
– More article creation process debugging by Daniel
– Dan is continuing work on the self-documenting system for our
code to assist developers further as well
Jason did some
bug-fixing in the object code
– Jason optimized the code a little more, for performance reasons
causing the php object code to utilize the DB Cache files we’re
generating more heavily
– Jason spent a lot of time planning for what features will be
coming next, as well as working on some feature requests &
change requests that have already started rolling in

We’ve been trying to utilize Bugzilla as much as possible, and
we’ve receieved our first bug submission from the public (thank
you!), but we’re looking forward to receiving many more. Submit
anything you think is not right with the site. We’ve fixed 6 of 13
bugs discovered thus far, and expect to have most of the remaining
stomped out by early next week. Some of the feature and change
requests should also be done by that time. So keep stopping by and
watching our progress. Within a few days you’ll even be able to
change those cryptic passwords that got sent to those who’ve signed
up for user accounts.

Thanks for everyone’s efforts in helping to test and utilize this
project!
