“Linux Writers and Publishers BOF @ LinuxWorld Expo
Jacob Javits Convention Center, New York City
Wed, Feb 2nd 5:45-7pm Room 1E13

The Linux Writers and Publishers BOF is an open forum for
writers and publishers who currently work in, or are interested in
working with, the Linux environment.
This is a reminder notice
and open call to writers and publishers to make plans to attend
this open forum.

Linux is making its way into the mainstream, and that means printed
material is becoming a valued commodity. Publishers, familiar with
the Mac and Microsoft world, need to become familiar with what
Linux is about and the issues related to working with writers who
work only on Linux systems. Their pool of authors is coming from
the vast number of developers who have made their way into the
Linux world, but who may not be familiar with the issues related to
being published – or what it takes to get their works into
print.

Michael J. Hammel, a freelance writer who focuses on graphics issue
for Linux systems and who is probably best known as the author of
the Artists’ Guide to the Gimp and his Graphics Muse web site
(graphics-muse.com),
will be the host of the LWAP BOF at LinuxWorld in New York.

About LWAP

LWAP originated at the 1999 ALS show and was such a success that
many attendees, writers and publishers alike, asked that it be held
at other conferences. LWAP invites publishers of print magazines,
texts and online sites to attend. A special invitation is being
extended to writers, both existing and potential, who are
interested in becoming published Linux authors. LWAP is your
opportunity to meet with publishers and talk about projects that
interest you.

Issues relating to getting and keeping authors, tools of the trade,
how author payments are handled , and what the hot Linux topics are
have all been recently discussed on the LWAP mailing list. This
forum is open to publishers of printed texts and magazines as well
as for-profit and non-profit Web publications. We especially want
to invite any potential and existing authors!

For list of publishers and writers confirmed to be in attendence,
as well as mailing list subscription info, see http://www.graphics-muse.com/lwap.html.”
