LinuxForum: Review: The No B.S. Guide to Red Hat Linux 6

“The author, Bob Rankin, delivers an easily readable book with
not a lot of garbage. In fact he keeps the prerequisite history and
advocacy sections to a few pages. This is an aptly named book. All
of the chapters are straight to the point and expect the reader to
have basic computer knowledge.”

“Keeping the book to what’s available on the CD, the author
gives a good overview of a number of Linux commands. He continues
with quick overviews of many applications, both command line and
GUI.”

“Another nifty thing in the book is an appendix with a short
explanation of every application on the provided CD. He also has
another appendix with DOS to Unix equivalencies.”

“… for a beginner this is a great start.”
