“Software suitors seem to be lining up to take IBM’s
fresh-faced 750CX microprocessors to the barn dance and OnCore
Systems may be penciled in for top spot on the Power PC’s dance
card.”

“OnCore Systems has been working with IBM’s PowerPC management
team to port its embedded operating system (OS) to IBM’s PowerPC
line of processors. “Such a development system was needed to
support the complex systems requirements for an IBM customer that
was engineering one of the world’s most powerful network switch
routers,” said OnCore spokesperson Phil Parker.”

“Parker said that the PowerPC 750CX microprocessor will debut
with OnCore’s OS at the Embedded Processor Forum, slated for June
13. OnCore’s scalable architecture made it possible to design a
system that would run mission-critical, real-time applications
simultaneously with a standard version of Linux on a network switch
outfitted with up to 64 PowerPC 750 processor cards per node,
Parker said.”
