LinuxPR: LinuxTraining.org Grows to Over 100 Training Companies

The site maintainer of http://linuxtraining.org today
announced that the Linux Training Resources directory has grown
from only a dozen listings in May 1999 to now over 105 training
companies.

“The enormous growth we have seen since the spring is just
another sign of the powerful influence of Linux,” said Dan York,
maintainer of the web site. “No longer can corporations use the
excuse that they can’t find training for Linux. The training is
definitely out there, with more centers starting to offer classes
all the time.”

“The Linux Training Resources directory began in the spring of
1999 as an outgrowth of York’s activities with the Linux
Professional Institute (www.lpi.org), a Linux community project to
develop professional certification for Linux. York explained,
“Since LPI deals only with setting certification standards and not
at all with education preparing people for certification, I had a
lot of people asking where they could get Linux training.
Eventually, I got tired of answering the question, so I did the
geek thing – took out a domain name, found someone to host a site,
and set it up.”
