LinuxSlides: Educational website gets bowel-lift, enters second beta

“Hi there! I’ve recently converted my LinuxSlides [www.linuxslides.com]
Web site to a Zope-backed engine
(with MySQL as a data store).
Everything seems to be going fine, but I’m just crossing my
fingers, and I ask people to come to the site and check if
everything is working fine and that it suits their needs.

What is LinuxSlides, you may ask ?

Well, it’s an index to Linux and Open Source presentations
material (usually, as slides, hence the name) submited by their
authors or third parties and classified by topic and language
(we’ve got currently entries in english, french, spanish, danish
and japanese).

I’ve created LinuxSlides last June out of my frustration of not
being able to attend every Linux / GNU / KDE / Open Source / Free
BSD / … conference / convention in the world. With every
necessary administrative scripts now in place, LinuxSlides should
be fully operational and deliver a useful service to Open Source
enthousiasts, whatever be their primary interest (hacking,
security, clustering, business, system administration…).

Of course, I’me pretty sure I’m currently only indexing between
1/10 and 1/4 of interesting material (about 70 presentations), so I
ask everyone who has published such material somewhere on the Web,
or who knows someone who has, to help the site grow by submiting
it. It will be reviewed very fast thanks to the new engine. Many
thanks to everyone who has already submitted slides to the
site.

S. Fermigier (speaking for the Linux-Center.org ring of Web
sites).”
