“I’ve never really done any form of review of Slackware Linux
and I’m not really sure why. Maybe it’s because it might come
across as biased since I consider it one of the most attractive
distributions available today. Maybe it’s because I’ve called it
home for so many years. Who knows. I will say that I recently
changed my mind about it and this is my story.

“As many of you know, I spend most of my time buried in Linux
distributions. When new software is released, I’ve got it and am
either loving it or getting ready to smash it repeatedly with a
large hammer. In other words, I’ve used and abused my fair share of
Linux software. There’s no doubt about that. The interesting thing
is that no matter how many distros I use, or even how much I enjoy
them, it seems I always come back to Slackware Linux. This is the
distro I consider home. Many times it’s where I come to regain my
sanity after wading through some of the craziest programming known
to man and called a Linux distribution. So why Slackware? Isn’t it
one of the more difficult distros to live with? Isn’t it using
‘old’ software? Doesn’t the devil endorse it? Wait a minute…
isn’t Patrick Volkerding (Slackware creator) the devil…?”
