NY Times: Red Hat Names New Chief Executive, Buys Software Firm

“Red Hat, the open-source software company, announced Monday
that it had named a new chief executive and that it was buying
another software company….”

Matthew Szulik, who joined as president in November 1998,
was named chief executive. He replaces Bob Young, a Red Hat
co-founder who gives up the chief executive title but retains his
role as chairman of the company.

“Red Hat also said it has agreed to acquire Cygnus Solutions, a
privately held open source software company, in a stock deal valued
at $674 million.”
