“Matt Aslett interviewed Mårten Mickos (MySQL CEO) and
during the interview, Mårten admitted that Oracle is hinting
that they will release ‘Unbreakable MySQL’ and essentially offer
support for MySQL more cheaply. If Oracle is actually considering
this, then they still really really don’t get it:

  • “As bad an idea as ‘Unbreakable Linux’ might be, it is at least
    a product complement to Oracle’s own product. ‘Unbreakable MySQL’
    is a competing product, and not even Oracle’s applications business
    would benefit from a ‘less expensive database’ unless Oracle
    actually wants to move all its applications to MySQL and completely
    destroy their Oracle database business…”
