Open source makes software a team game

Exchanges and banks have long been using generic open-source software such as Linux and Apache to run their infrastructure, but open-source tools are rapidly being adopted in the front office.

Large banks such as Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan, Bank of America and HSBC have all participated in open-source projects, while exchanges such as the New York Stock Exchange have spearheaded initiatives in the space.
