“It appears that the PC LABS’ hacking contest that pitted a
LINUX machine and an NT one isn’t exactly kosher. Yesterday’s
report at LINUX Today suggested some flaws in the implementation of
the security features in LINUX. According to the report, PC LAB
failed to implement 21 security fixes to the LINUX machine (it used
Red Hat)…”

“Taschek’s justification, he’s the LABS’ director, was
exceptionally lame and defies a basic common sense that any
reasonable person has about computer security. You don’t need
to be a proficient programmer to know that if a company offers 21
security fixes, you’d download them as quickly as your modem
allows.
