Lindows.com Inc. announced today the immediate availability of
LindowsOS 4.5. This latest version taps into free worldwide calling
technology by integrating SIP software into the LindowsOS operating
system. LindowsOS 4.5 also delivers remote desktop sharing,
integrated search features, and translation tools that place six
different languages at users’ fingertips.

For the first time, search functionality is a core feature of the
PC experience. Highlighted text within any webpage can be searched
on with a single mouse-click through Amazon’s book search,
catalogs, eBay auctions, glossaries, Google’s indexes, image
databases, Yahoo! Shopping search engines, and more. In addition,
the operating system also includes dial-up access with United
Online, the industry’s leading provider of affordable Internet
connectivity.
LindowsOS 4.5 also features language translation, allowing pages
to be translated from or into six languages — English, Spanish,
French, Italian, German, and Portuguese — with a single click.

LindowsOS 4.5 enables free worldwide calling with built-in SIP
(Session Initiation Protocol) technology. SIP (www.sipphone.com) allows worldwide
phone calls to be made, at no cost, over broadband cables, turning
common PCs into free global calling machines. LindowsOS 4.5’s SIP
integration gives every user a unique number from which to send and
receive calls; it also includes sophisticated four-way conferencing
abilities, as well as full 800 number access from any location
worldwide. To make a call, users simply open the program on their
computer, which has a virtual keypad similar to a telephone, and
enter the SIP phone number of anyone with a SIPphone, Videophone,
or SIP-enabled computer. LindowsOS will initiate the voice call —
just like a traditional telephone, minus the high cost.
Additional upgrades found in LindowsOS 4.5 include expanded
hardware support to enhance the Plug & Play experience that
allows peripheral devices to be automatically detected and working
instantly, as well as the latest versions of pre-loaded software,
including games, Internet suite, productivity programs, and more.
