Red Hat, Inc. Bug Fix Advisory

Synopsis: New mutt packages available
Advisory ID: RHBA-2000:023-02
Issue date: 2000-05-12
Updated on: 2000-05-19
Product: Red Hat Linux
Keywords: mutt /etc/Muttrc
Cross references: N/A

1. Topic:

New mutt packages are available that upgrade to the latest
stable version and fix bugs present in the mutt packages that
shipped with Red Hat Linux 6.2.

2. Relevant releases/architectures:

Red Hat Linux 6.2 – i386 alpha sparc

3. Problem description:

The mutt packages shipped with Red Hat Linux 6.2 did not read
/etc/Muttrc correctly, which could cause strange behavior.

The new mutt packages are the latest stable version, 1.2i. There
are a couple of minor configuration changes from the 6.2
version:

– PGP support has changed slightly. If you are using gpg (as
shipped with Red Hat Linux 6.2), no changes should need to be
made.
– The ‘lists’ command has changed semantics. To emulate the old
behavior, replace ‘lists’ with ‘subscribe’ in your .muttrc

For more information, see /usr/doc/mutt-1.2i/README.UPGRADE

4. Solution:

For each RPM for your particular architecture, run:

rpm -Fvh [filename]

where filename is the name of the RPM.

5. Bug IDs fixed (http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla
for more info):

9535 – Mutt does not seem to use macros
10282 – /etc/Muttrc is not read
10724 – mutt doesn’t read /etc/Muttrc
11088 – Mutt doesn’t read /etc/Muttrc
11188 – mutt-1.0.1i-6 doesn’t read /etc/Muttrc
11196 – mutt doesn’t read /etc/Muttrc
