“Let’s face it, a distribution dropping 32-bit support
is not all that hard to believe if you think hard about it. When
64-bit processors were introduced, computers didn’t typically ship
enough memory to where 32-bit would be a problem. Now days however,
computers with 4GB of RAM or more are not all that hard to find. In
fact, the industry is shifting to sell computers with more and more
memory, and it seems as if the amount of RAM included by default is
growing very rapidly. In fact, my laptop, which I purchased late
last year, came with 4GB of RAM, and due to the address space
limitation of 32-bit, it shipped with a 64-bit operating system.
(Otherwise the OS would probably only see 3.5GB due to the said
limitation).”
