Swedish firm Axis to use Linux for advanced embedded systems

Thanks to Anders

for this link.

In a recent article
(in Swedish) in the Swedish magazine NyTeknik, we are informed that
Axis Communications of Lund,
Sweden
will start to use Linux for embedded systems in advanced
video- and webcam servers and other systems. Axis has ported Linux
to their own processor “Etrax”. In two years, they expect that
Linux will be included in 50% of their products sold.

The reasons given for using Linux are that it will facilitate
development, make it easier to recuit programmers internationally,
no licensing fee is needed and it is a stable system.

Also, note that Axis is recruiting a Linux
programmer
on their Web site.
