Techweb: SGI To Preinstall Red Hat Linux, Windows NT

“Computer maker Silicon Graphics Inc. is readying a new line of
multiprocessing servers that come pre-installed with either Windows
NT or Red Hat Linux.”

“It is the first time SGI is using an operating system other
than its IRIX.”

“SGI is expected to outline its specific plans next week at
Linux World in San Jose.”

“The two servers — the SGI 1400L (for Linux) and the SGI 1400M
(for Windows) — can accommodate up to four Intel Pentium III Xeon
processors. Both servers also have 2 Mbytes of cache, multiple
fans, hot-swap drives, and dual power supplies.”
