“I would find it interesting if Microsoft opened Windows source
code,” Torvalds said, responding to an audience question. “There
would be a lot of positive things, but I don’t that is going to
happen in the near future….”
“Over time, as open source has been commercialized,”
Torvalds said, “open source still flourished, because it is also
about bring the users and programmers closer together….“
“Everyone always hears that competition is good and that is why
you have antitrust lawsuits,” he said, drawing laughter and cheers.
“Development thrives on competition.”
