“A BADLY NEEDED INJECTION of funds from Compaq has
ensured that Red Hat now has enough money to create version 7.2 for
the Alpha microprocessor. But the move is almost certainly too late to help satisfy
anything but the after market, after repeated Compaq, API and
Samsung bungling, reported here and at the Other Place.Earlier we reported that Red Hat had told system integrators
that with uncertainty hanging over the future of the Alpha chip, it
was considering not developing 7.2 for the chip.”
