“This book is another book in the Black Book series from
Coriolis and it is not bad although it has a few problems. I
take issue with any book that claims to be a ‘Linux’ book and then
goes about showing you distribution specific ways of doing things.
If you are going to be distribution specific then just say so, call
the book “Red Hat Linux Whatever….”. That is my biggest issue
with the book, it is fairly (but not always) Red Hat and Caldera
specific….”
“The book is technically acurate and the information is very
good. I highly recomend the book to those who are new to Linux and
are running Red Hat or Caldera Linux. The book would make an
excellent reference manual to keep near the desk and refer to when
you need to know how to do perform a certain task. If you are an
experienced Linux user the book may still hold good information for
you. However, if you do not run Red Hat or Caldera then give the
book a miss.”
