Upside: All Linux all the time

Silicon Valley traffic.”

Maybe that’s why it shouldn’t be too surprising that Linux,
the operating system that lives to give CFOs heartburn, is suddenly
popping up as a key building block in the emerging Internet radio
market.

“Linux is such a nice system for embedded devices, including
Internet radio devices, because it’s so scalable,” says Andrew
Leyden, founder and president of PenguinRadio, a Washington, D.C.,
based company that proposes to sell its first Linux-based radio
appliance in late spring.”
