This article outlines all the grief that Microsoft is currently
faced with, including a seemingly losing battle in court, as well
as increased competition.
“In consumer electronics, Microsoft’s results are mixed. While
computer companies support its CE operating system, some of the
richest prospects for the technology — the cable guys — seem to
be lining up behind Java. In the corporate groupware arena,
Microsoft is getting a good fight from Lotus Development. In the
server segment, Microsoft can’t seem to get Active Directory and NT
5.0 out the door; and in some key areas, such as databases, the
company remains a marginal player. And, then, there’s this little
thing called Linux.”
