allNetDevices: Sharp Tells of Linux Handheld

Sharp started providing more details Monday about its
forthcoming handheld, which will combine a Linux platform with
extensive Java support:

“The initial device is expected to ship this fall. It will
feature an integrated sliding keyboard, a color screen, both
CompactFlash and Secure Disk expansion slots and extensive
multimedia capabilities, the company said.”

“Because of its built-in support for Sun Microsystems’
PersonalJava technology, the company is unveiling the product at
this week’s JavaOne Conference in San Francisco. The company said
its use of Java will support its future development plans.”
