“”Riding the Web and Flow” is the theme of Technology Trends
2000 Annual Report released today by the Technology &
Communications practices of Deloitte & Touche and Deloitte
Consulting.”

“Today’s e-Business executive is faced with more challenges than
ever before, the report says. The Web’s new wrinkles confronting
dot-come start-ups include electronic trading, ASPs, cybercash
digital payment systems, the effect of digital signatures, and
intellectual property issues. Couple that with new technologies
coming out almost daily, and it’s a huge challenge. Innovative
technologies are set to dramatically alter the way we use the Web.
New fixed wireless technologies mean that users can access the Web
anytime, anywhere. And, they’ll do it using a variety of display
formats, from handheld devices to Dick Tracy watch-like screens.
The Linux movement is also poised to alter Web servers as we
know them, providing an open source that gives more options to more
developers.”

“The Technology Trends 2000 Annual Report also discusses the
dark side of constant connectivity and its effect on people who are
constantly connected. Other stress-related topics include e-mail
eavesdropping and the issues of legal liability and privacy.
Telecommuting and virtual offices are also examined as an
attractive alternative for both employers and employees.”
