“VA Linux Systems shares rose 14 percent after an analyst said
the maker of Linux software and computers is seeing rising demand
for some products and may move into new markets.”

VA Linux shares closed up $4.88 to $39.13, after rising as
high as $41.25 during the day.

“Philip Rueppel at Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown raised his rating
on the company, which makes products related to the Linux operating
system, to “strong buy” from “buy.” Demand for VA Linux’s server
computer products remains strong and the company probably will
expand into the growing market for storage devices, Rueppel said in
a report.”
