ComputerWeekly: Linux Thrown at Mid-Market to Break Windows

“Linux and the mid-market were at the heart of the strategy
outlined by Oracle at last week’s AppsWorld event in London.

“Recent legal wranglings with PeopleSoft were swept to one side
as the vendor placed all its focus on new strategies.

“In response to customer demand, Oracle has adopted an
aggressive Linux programme, which is aimed at encouraging its ISVs
to build applications for the open source platform.

“Oracle vice president of global alliance and channels Julie
Tung revealed: ‘We now have two main areas of focus: Linux, which
is a very important go-to-market initiative, and our mid-market
offering, e-business Special Edition…'”
