However, if a calendar exists for operating systems, 2003 very much
looks like it could be the year of the penguin. In this year alone,
Linux has gained more ground and popularity compared with where it
was about a year ago. This, partly, could be attributed to the
united and concerted support shown by major vendors in backing the
open-source operating system.“The reason for the increase in adoption of Linux is rather
straightforward. Many of the major issues have been addressed. So,
to many industry players who have a stake, Linux is finally coming
