“Solution providers are growing more optimistic about Linux’s
potential to crack the business market, but major hurdles still
remain, according to data from the March CRN Technology Solution
Provider Survey.”

“Other data shows solid near-term sales expectations among
solution providers, particularly in Web-related software categories
and service and support. The survey respondents also see
significant sales opportunities in hardware areas such as
networking, peripherals and PC servers, at least into the early
summer months.”

In last month’s survey, 34 percent of solution providers
said they think Linux will become a viable alternative to the
Windows platform in the enterprise market within the next 12
months.
This was only slightly below the figure from the
February survey, which was the highest recorded in the 11 months
CRN has been surveying this question.”
