Deploy and manage a virtual environment using Packt’s new
VirtualBox book

Packt is pleased to announce
VirtualBox
3.1: Beginner’s Guide
, a new book that helps System
Administrator’s utilize and manage a cost-effective virtual
environment with VirtualBox 3.1. Written by Alfonso V. Romero, this
book helps System Administrator’s create their first VirtualBox
machine on Windows and Linux with the help of its practical
approach and many screenshots.

VirtualBox is an OpenSource x86
and AMD64/Intel64 virtualization solution that is targeted at
server, desktop and embedded use. It is installed on an existing
host operating system; within this application, additional guest
operating systems, each known as a Guest OS, can be loaded and run,
each with its own virtual environment.

VirtualBox 3.1: Beginner’s Guide helps Administrator’s create
their own virtual machine on VirtualBox, using Ubuntu/Linux
Desktop/Windows XP as the “guest” operating system thereby helping
them share folders and pass information. This book not only helps
build a virtual machine using fixed and dynamically expanding hard
drive images but also helps choose the appropriate hard disk
controller.

This book helps Administrator’s create their first virtual
machine on a Windows/Linux guest operating system and then
progresses towards discussing the various formats that VirtualBox
supports and interacts with. Towards the end of the book, readers
will be able to run their own headless VirtualBox server and
create, manage, and run virtual machines in that server from a
remote PC.

System Administrators willing to set up a virtual machine using
an Open Source tool will find this book an interesting and
beneficial read. For more information please visit: www.packtpub.com/virtualbox-3-1-beginners-guide/book.
