Dow Jones/Yahoo!: Microsoft, HP Sign Technology Agreements With China

“U.S.-based Microsoft Corp. and Hewlett-Packard Co. Thursday
signed separate agreements with China’s Ministry of Information
Industry to provide equipment, support and training to help in the
development of the country’s software industry…

“Under the MII’s memorandum of cooperation with HP, HP will
provide CNY200 million [US$23.8 million/€19.4 million] worth
of software, hardware, training and technical support over three
years for a lab to develop and test software based on the Linux
platform, HP said in a statement.

“The Microsoft and HP labs will focus on providing support to
small and medium- sized domestic software companies in their
research and development of applications…”
