Egat Turns to Open Source to Cut Costs

“The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (Egat) has
successfully bundled Open Office to run on 7,000 desktop PCs and
reduced the cost of IT investment by around Bt40 million
[US$1,221,000/€894,000] a year.

said the state enterprise had a policy to adopt open-source
software in the organisation to reduce the cost of ICT management
