“The City of Dortmund is providing its 600,000 citizens with
rapid and easy access to government services with the new Linux-
and Internet-based system, which is officially launched Wednesday
by IBM and the City of Dortmund.“Activity such as registration in a new town, notification of
intended marriage, births or relocation are often subject to
time-consuming administrative processes. With the new digital
citizens mapping system ‘doMap’ available on the Internet, citizens
are quickly directed to the correct department for their specific
needs. doMap uses a graphical “turntable” to lead citizens
automatically to a specific area of interest. The new system is
launched today at the finals of the Dortmund Project’s start2grow
