“Cautionary comments from the Irish government regarding the use
of Open Source software (OSS) are not in line with policy elsewhere
in Europe, a group has said.

“At the Irish Software Association’s annual conference in Dublin
last week, Information Society Minister Mary Hanafin indicated that
since OSS is ‘open to amendment and reconfiguration,’ the long-term
cost of using it in Irish e-government projects may be too
great…”
