Enterprise Linux Today: IBM Boasts of New Customers, Industries

“IBM announced today at LinuxWorld New York that Unilever, PGA
Tour and eight additional customers are the latest to move to Linux
to transform their business. Three years since IBM’s public embrace
of Linux, customers in every industry are turning to IBM in record
numbers to expand their use of Linux across an e-business
infrastructure.

“Unilever, a multi-brand company whose products include Ragu,
Lipton, Elizabeth Arden, and Hellmann’s Mayonnaise will standardize
its infrastructure on Linux to take advantage of the flexibility
and lower cost of Linux. By discarding proprietary platforms and
integrating its applications on Linux, Unilever is able to save
money and drive competition for its infrastructure.

“PGA Tour will offer unique new applications to golf fans using
IBM Linux Virtual Services and Storage. PGA Tour turned to IBM and
Linux to launch TOURCast, a first-of-its-kind online application
that enables golf fans to follow tournament action in real
time…”
